So I'm a huge Spurs fan. Anyone within shouting distance knows that. And I realize it's fun to give a fan like me a hard time. Okay. That's cool.
But lately there has been 2 people who go out of their way to be ugly, ugly, ugly about the Spurs. It's like they're berating me. And they're so mean about it. They say stuff like; "Oh, that's Awesome! They lost? I LOVE it when the Spurs lose!" they hiss with a malicious laugh. Or how about the guy who made fun of me across the table at a Foster/adopt meeting - he didn't know me from Adam, but he blurted out insult after insult.
Kinda makes you wonder if someone goes that far out of their way to humiliate and insult you, are they really nice people?

Good rule of thumb...just consider the source and go on. We must remember that we are the fans...or better yet, the spectators. We have no say as to the outcome of the game. Better yet, those people who deride other teams are usually people who have pretty low self-esteem and they have to do something to make themselves feel better. To twist an old adage...those who can't, criticize.
im sorry. those kind of people I just brush off. not worth my time. (after I give them a dirty look. :P ) just brush them off. chances are, you wont see them again. love you!!!
Welcome to the wild world of sports momma. Now you know why I'm upset everytime Jimmy Johnson wrecks out of a race and the cowboys are having a bad season..... We're all hecklers, so were not all bad, we just like our teams and like to see the fans of the loosing team get all upset when you talk about how bad their team performed.... 0-2 to the denver nuggets???? How does that even happen? You must feel pretty mad =)
Also everytime Brandee has something good to say about the Kansas City Cheifs, my friends and I take turns making fun of her decision to be a fan of such a horrible team.... You should hear our house on NFL Sunday!

My self esteem is very high and usually the fans of the team that won are as well so they just like to talk about the loss of your team. Also there are also some people who a hatered for other teams and their fans because they support the very people they hate. Sports is a violent area, but it's all the "smack" talking that makes it fun, for most of us anyways. Thats what being a fan is all about. Support your team to the fullest and make fun of those whose teams come up short.

Those people that take the heckling too far are the ones that like to see others as miserable as they are. They are probably nice people inside but for whatever reason have to put others down to feel better. I understand that smack talk is part of the fun like Rob said but the ones that have to put others down (the ones that totally go too far on purpose) have deeper issues like Andy said.
